Denver’s Aaron Ray Directs Suiting Video for Sydney Clapp’s Eerie Song ‘Chrysalis’

Aaron Ray shares the official music video for Sydney Clapp’s haunting, slow-burn single Chrysalis. Here are his thoughts on the project.

“The collaboration was truly serendipitous. Everything aligned starting with a great song, creative freedom and a wonderful production team. The first time I heard the song, my mind was filled with ghostly, grainy, blurry, black & white images. With minimal direction, a concept and treatment were developed. The idea was to create contrast, light and dark, claustrophobic versus vast openness — leading to ultimate transformation. Miraculously the concept lined up exactly with what Sydney had hoped for.  After a closed studio shoot, we built upon the footage with a blend of rich and dark textures. Topping it all off with subtle 3D and animation.

I couldn’t have asked for a better team to help out, including Jasper Gray and Hillary Thomas of Futuristic Films to DP and camera assist, Brandon Carter as gaffer, Zack Citro on 3D, and Janel Vigil helping with production and props.”
