Epic Games, makers of Fortnite and Unreal Engine, are embroiled in a major dispute with Apple. Epic implemented a direct payment system that violated Apple’s iOS App Store guidelines — trying to end-around what Epic calls monopolistic behavior by Apple. In response, Apple said it would be terminating Epic’s developer account completely later this month — locking them out of a billion devices. To market its case to consumers, Epic made this parody of Apple’s famous “1984” ad to insinuate they’re guilty of the very big-brother behavior they called Microsoft out for three and a half decade ago.
