CPB, a member of MDC Partners’ Constellation network, has set the stage for the next chapter in its storied history with the hiring of Jorge Calleja as Chief Creative Officer and the construction of new headquarters in the heart of Denver. Additionally, the agency has announced the promotion of Jacqueline Redmond to Director of Account Management and a search for a Chief Strategy Officer, laying the foundation for a transformative year ahead.

“Jorge’s arrival and our exciting new office in Denver are the first seeds of a strategic plan that will position CPB for growth in the years ahead,” said Erik Sollenberg, Global CEO, CPB. “After a successful tenure at a progressive company like Blizzard, Jorge understands what modern brands need. And with an impressive run at iconic agencies along with first-rate digital and design chops, he knows how to deliver on those needs. Most importantly, he’s an empathetic leader well-versed in fostering creative talent as well as effective and original work.”

Calleja comes to the CPB from Activision Blizzard — a premier video game developer and publisher — where he spent the past two years as VP of Marketing and ECD of esports. Prior to Blizzard, Calleja worked as an ECD at agencies including Deutsch LA; TBWA’s dedicated Apple agency, Media Arts Lab; and The Martin Agency, where he brought in the agency’s first global business with the “Wonderfilled” campaign for OREO and contributed with the growth of brands like Chips Ahoy!, Ritz, Tic Tac and Stolichnaya vodka. Calleja also spent seven years in Amsterdam working at Wieden+Kennedy as the Global Creative Director for Coca-Cola, Honda and LEGO, and Sid Lee where he worked on Adidas.

“Leaving Blizzard is emotional for me. I will always be grateful to have worked among the amazing creative talent in such an exciting industry. But now I get to join the agency that I’ve always dreamed of,” said Jorge Calleja. “It is an honor and an enormous responsibility. But I’ve always gravitated toward the opportunities that challenge me as they are the most rewarding. And there is incredible opportunity with CPB. Now is the time to turn the page on a new chapter, dissect what makes this place special, and use those core values to grow into the future.”

In July 2021, CPB will move into a new office space currently under construction in the heart of Denver — 30 miles to the south of its longtime home in Boulder. The new office will inhabit a 20,000-square-foot space in the McGregor Square development adjacent to Coors Field in Lower Downtown. With direct access to Union Station and the RiNo district, the mixed-use development centers around a public plaza, and combines office space with retail, restaurants, a food hall, residential development and a hotel.

“There are lots of great memories and 14 years of CPB history in Boulder, but our future lies in Denver,” said Ryan Skubic, Managing Director, CPB. “Denver’s diversity and vibrant culture complement our ambitions. And with an incredible location in the city’s epicenter, our new spot will be more inspiring, more inclusive and it will make life easier and more enjoyable for everyone at CPB and our partners.”

Calleja will work to chart the agency’s future alongside Skubic and Sollenberg as well as Jacqueline Redmond who has been promoted to Director of Account Management. For the past four years, Redmond has led a variety of key CPB brand partnerships as Group Account Director. Prior to CPB, she worked across the auto category on Ford, GMC, Buick and Chevrolet in an agency tenure that spanned JWT, Doner, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and Commonwealth//McCann. To round out the executive leadership team, CPB is undergoing a search for a Chief Strategy Officer to begin in the first quarter of 2021.

    Two questions:

    1. Why not drop the name at this point, lol
    2. IS CP+B facing layoffs?
