It’s been a while since we did this, but let’s give it another go. Pick up a tidbit and drop one off. We’ll start. One Denver interactive firm is going up, another is going the opposite direction. Your turn.

I have also heard this news. Very interesting.

I heard that Tiger Woods was unfaithful! I’m serious.

I know what firm is going down, just ask around… but who’s going up? Do tell.

Who? Who? The owl speaks.

I heard karsh is going down after the new year. They are going through a ‘transitional period’ is what is said on the inside.

what’s the topspin on the up and coming?

I hear Boulder shop Greenhouse Partners lost out to Fallon for Charter’s next quarterly broadcast work. It’s too bad. I loved the past spots. Hopefully loosing is not their “un“doing.

Within the last 6 months almost the entire team at FL2 has left. ouch. I’ve heard rumors why… Confirm or Deny? Who knows

Put it this way. Its not a big surprise when you look at the past 6 months or so.

One rotten egg VP and the team splits, rough.

Very surprised some stuck it out as long as they have. Truly a shame about what has happened with the place. Congrats to those embarking on new adventures.

Dang, say it ain’t so! I love FL-2.

Damn shame. There was a real talented crew over there at FL2. Interested to see what happens. Best of luck to the team in new places…

Where did everyone go? Factory labs? CP+B?

As for any of the FL2 talent out there , let’s talk. Give us a shout over here at Juice.

I am amazed when companies this size let this happen. I watched it go down at SRG. Start with one unqualified jackass in middle management that makes everyone miserable – add festering moral-busting rumors and negativity – sprinkle in apathy and complacency at the top – and voila, tons of valuable, cultivated talent walks straight out the front door.

AMEN HAPPY G

Some there need to be interviewed, tom martino-style.

on a serious note, this is a sad time for Denver. FL2 is (was?) awesome

So if FL2 is on the way out, who is on the way up?

Factory? 1stMovement? Xylem? Those are the only places I’d think were.

Speaking of Factory, I heard they may have won some big new business. Is that true?

FL2 may be down, but let’s not count them out yet. Most of the agencies in this town have had their fair share of rough patches. Wait and see how they handle the adversity before you start writing them off.

Does anyone have any positive news to report? Things we can get excited about for our Denver agencies and our city?

Christmas Vacation is on IFC tonite ;

AMC. Sorry.

I’m with Optimist. Does anyone have good news to report? Cactus? TDA? Cultivator? Karsh? Sukle? Factory? Integer? Anyone?

Chime in.

I heard a little shop called Amelie just hired a new AD and a new CD. Work on the website isn’t all that, but the whisper is that these new guys could help them do some decent stuff. CD’s an ex-London ad guy, AD worked at McClain, Mighty Karma and a few others.

Wow, I’m shocked to hear that about FL2. I hope this next decade proves more prosperous for them and all agencies in your fine metropolis.

As for the interactive agencies, I heard 1stMovement is rocked with floods of new fun work, and growing quickly. Haven’t heard anything good nor bad about the others. I’m sure they’re rockin.

Enough of the pessimism and negativity. I hope everyone has an amazing new year and leads on to bigger and better things!

I met one of the FL2 guys about 6 months ago. He was a cocky arrogant ass. Ever since, I’ve had a bad taste in my mouth about this agency. It may have been only one encounter, but the impression was made. Good luck to everyone and stay humble. This is a tough industry.

Timely information.

On some good news, Spillt is rocking away at some super cool new show packages and commercials. 3 years growing strong with some amazing local agencies and next year looking bright. Any of you FL2 peeps know motion design and animation? send your reels as we may be needing some more freelance at the first of the new year. We wish the best for the rest of the Denver creative pool! First movement is our neighbors, bad ass talent over there!

Spectro, National Hirschfeld, L&M, Keyline bought out by Vision, Kendall….who’s next?

Could be because the interactive agency that is moving up is actually a full-service design shop who just happens to kill in interactive. There’s much more to the world than 1st Movement and Xylem. And, If you get ketchup on your dog I’ll slap you. Only Mustard.

Futuristic is doing well and continues to get better. They are moving into a new space soon too. I haven’t heard from the Legwork guys lately and am curious to hear how they are doing. They are great and super talented guys. Cypher 13 is doing really well this year and keep getting bigger and better projects. I am curious to hear how Adam Espinoza is doing too. I love that guy and he always has something interesting going on. I recently talked to Joe Mease and he is doing really well and still cranking out some great work.

Is Cultivator growing at all? What is Sukle working on lately? Are there any new agencies out there cropping up besides Amelie? Maybe something brewing from CP+B expats?

I want to hear positive news.

Cox, Legwork guys have been slammed from what I hear all year! Which is awesome! Love those guys!

I hear that Chris Cox is blowing up and taking crap from NO one!!! Nice new cards dude, I expect to get one:)

Motive seems to be doing well.

Some agencies in Denver are good. Some are bad. Some got too big for their britches and forgot who got them there.

Good to hear Legwork is busy. Seems like a lot of the smaller production driven shops are doing better.

Nice to get a mention, if not by name. I’ve taken up the role of CD at Amelie, been here just a few weeks but I have big plans. The AD in question is Gordy Hirsch, really solid, creative guy with big ideas. Should be some good things happening here.

I heard a lot of people left FL2…like everyone. I know two went to Firstborn in NYC. So bad people left town???

imo dave snyder went from good at FL2 to great at firstborn. so good for him.

The people that left are talented; the people still there, both new and old, are talented. Change happens – it’s an agency.

There is a much bigger lesson to learn with what seems to have happened at FL2 than: it’s an “agency” – change happens. It’s that kind of thinking that gets places like FL2 or any agency (read: the entire old school agency mantra) into this kind of situation. Talent isn’t a commodity. It’s not easily replaced.

Well said. That’s the real lesson. You’re only asset as an agency is your clients and your talent. If you’re not doing everything you can to keep the good ones of each, you’re fucked.

I heard that when an agency held onto a big piece of business, their holding company gave them a $1 MM bonus which was shared amongst upper management; but when annual reviews came around suddenly there was no money for raises for the people who actually do the work.

Just what I heard.

Checked out that Amelie website, and that work is bad. No rumor here. Just dog butt bad work.

Specualtion is always a bitch. As an alum of FL2 all I can say is that change is always good. The employees of FL2 are all incredible people, and everyone has gone on to great new places including freelancing, Firstborn, other smaller, sophisticated shops in Denver and on the West Coast. I have nothing but love for the Ad community in Denver and really think we should be doing a better job of supporting, sharing and encouraging others. Gossip, rumors and negative comments are useless and quite honestly discouraging in this business. We are entering a new age of creativity and opportunity. Some of us worked relentlessly to keep jobs and keep the doors open what can be collectively deemed as the worst recession ever. The previous comment is not specific to FL2, however it is more of a general observation of what the Colorado Ad community has be dealing with over the past 2 years. To all of you who believe in positive, motivating and encouraging futures…cheers. You make Colorado the special place it is. To those who are going to continue to speculate, manipulate and falsify individual images, etc. please move somewhere else. Colorado is an incredible community with great talent that is internationally recognized. We should be banding together to provide support and keep things awesome. My two cents for what it is worth. Congratulations to all of the FL2 alumni you deserve it. Also, congratulations to the new FL2 employees, the future is in your hands so write it big and proud.

Well said FL2 Alum. As you and Leif over at Moxie have said: LET’S KEEP IT POSITIVE.

What negativity are you talking about exactly? The only negative comment was about some douche at FL2 that left a bad taste in someone’s mouth (gross). The rest of these comments are simply addressing local companies getting some new work and hordes of people leaving from one particular agency. What’s negative about that? Is it negative to say ITS FUCKING COLD OUTSIDE if it’s true?

Yay! Laura P. Lets kick some post modern pc ass.

ok, what’s up with Bill Roden at SRG? Interviewed w/ him recently and wow – what a jackass. Is that really where SRG is going? Shame…

Hahaha. Yeah, that guy is tool. That’s their new Creative Director! Can you believe that? That place is a sinking ship. Shame really, it used to be one of Boulder’s best shops. Their lame attempt to try and stay relevant by grabbing a bunch of CP+B drones stands as testament to the desperate state they are in. Oh well, survival of the fittest I guess.

Are you guys talking about Peter D'Amato at FL2? Because if so this thread makes a lot more sense.
