Personnel Count: Christophe typically collaborates directly with clients on most projects, but also draws on the support of a few talented musicians and engineers based on the needs of projects. He’s also started working with a couple of freelance producers to help out with assets and communication when necessary. Best Recent Work: 2010 MTV Video Music Awards – Original music / Music editing / Sound design – Dynamite Laser Beam had the privilege to flex some sonic muscles for the 2010 MTV video music awards. For the nominee packages, we got to create custom mash ups with sound design for some of the biggest names in music, from Lady Gaga to Jay Z. We were also asked to cook up some custom gourmet audio delicacies for the show opener, intro, bumpers and outro. Audi R8 / Ironman2 – Original music / Sound design / Mix – This project provided the opportunity to create a custom score and sound design for scenes from of a major motion picture. Designing the Ironman suit sounds and bringing the Audi R8 to life with its growling engines was a great pleasure. The Last Exorcism (digital campaign) – Original music / Music editing / Sound design / Mix – It was a lot of fun to create an eerie sound scape to match the disturbing imagery for this digital campaign. Our goal was to create an engaging online experience with movie quality music and sound design. Turn off all the lights, and enjoy. We also created the sound design for the viral vids. Audi A8 iPad App – Original music / Music editing / Sound design / Mix – We aimed to create a compelling sensory experience for this iPad application. When creating music and sound for this platform, we closely sculpted the tactile quality of the sound that resonates through the device and into the user’s hands. Hotels.com Augmented Reality experience – Music editing / Sound design / Mix – For this augmented reality experience, the goal was to design the ambient sound scape for 10 US cities, reflecting the actual environments with practical sounds. It was the ultimate challenge in foley and SFX creation. We also created the musical soundtrack for various sections of the experience. The Killers Remix – by Astra Moveo – Just for some contrast. This is a piece of music Christophe produced with his band a while back. Still enjoy the way the sonic landscape interacts with the visual narrative. Best Achievement in the Last Year: Aside from establishing some great relationships within the industry, the best achievement was creating the audio for the 2010 MTV VMAs. It’s a pretty massive audience. We were told it’s around 80 million viewers with re-broadcasts and internet. We was psyched to have music and sound floating around the mass media consciousness. The Piranha 3D Digital campaign was a close second though 😉 3 Things You Don’t Know About Dynamite Laser Beam that You Should: 1. Christophe used a thundertube as the primary sound in a rather big car campaign. He plans to use it again at the first available opportunity. 2. Christophe’s boy, Ross Maupin (Denver freelance Creative Director / Digital Producer extraordinaire), had a huge hand in pushing him to start this company years ago. He’s glad he did. 3. When Christophe was a kid, he’d annoy his mom and sister by making sound fx noises and scratching records. Now it all makes sense. F-f-f-f fresh.
