ILONA, a beauty brand engaged in the creation of high-end, premium skincare and cosmetics, is seeking an exemplary Graphic Designer to join our company. Established 1971, in Denver, named after its eponymous founder, Ilona, is credited for helping introduce American women and men to high standards of European skincare. Her facial salons once graced major American cities and served as the first introduction to her skincare products and regimens which created a loyal following. Today we look to expand the heritage of ILONA Beauty through broader retail distribution of our unique products, and touching a new generation of users.
Position Description:
In the beauty industry, design defines the brand, it sets customer expectations for quality, price, packaging, service…everything. For years we’ve outsourced creative to designers all over the world, but now it’s time to bring design in-house for closer collaboration, shorten the design cycle, facilitate communication, and share the excitement of developing new concepts and brands, and nurturing our legacy, namesake brand, ILONA—the brand that started it all and for which we’re always inspired.
The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and a sophisticated approach to design. We're seeking someone who can elevate our brand through their refined style, bringing a polished and distinctive visual perspective to our projects. Is this you? What you can expect daily:
*You will report and work with company CEO and Project Manager on a variety of projects, for different brands.
*Everything you touch will be designed with a beautiful, thoughtful esthetic including web banners, landing pages, eBlasts, Amazon, affiliate marketing content, brochures, labels, mood boards, sell sheets, advertisements, social media posts, anything, and everything.
*You’ll move effortlessly between different brands, never deviating from their unique, respective DNA.
*You’ll be ready for ad hoc meetings for opportunities that didn’t exist 5-minutes ago.
*You’ll liaise with the social media director to create beautiful social media posts and feeds.
*You’ll set the mood for our stable of photographers to create glorious photography.
*You’ll proudly take ownership of every facet and asset of each design.
*You’ll make certain each brand stays true to its DNA.
*You’ll work on multiple assets concurrently for a given campaign: emails, landing pages, social media assets, direct mail and packaging.
*You won’t take critique personally and use it as a stepping stone.
*You’ll maintain powerful design assets that exalt every brand.
Qualifications:
*Love of design and the beauty industry.
*5+ years design experience; preferably in the beauty space or related field
*Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Figma, XD, Photoshop, Illustrator)
*Adept at AI (ChapGPT, etc.), its tools, functions, and applications.
*Have website design and social media experience (coding skills not required)
*Demonstrated skill in packaging, print and digital design.
*Portfolio of work presenting a modern and sophisticated aesthetic for
commercial projects
*Uncompromising eye for detail, color, composition, and typography.
*Strong communicator, both visually and verbally
*Adept at multi- tasking. Ability to manage concurrent projects and maintain critical deadlines.
*Work well with small teams and in a secluded environment.
*Pivot from multiple projects and different brands effortlessly.
*Able to adapt to different brands’ voices, styles, and esthetics.
*Time-line driven personality.
*Highly organized to maintain flow of creative assets.
*Bring a wealth of knowledge, disciplines, protocols, systems and resources to the position.
*Expertise in production processes.
*Position based in Denver.
This position offers a unique contract-to-hire opportunity. During the initial contract period, you'll have the chance to showcase your skills, collaborate with our team on various projects, and immerse yourself in the ILONA culture. Following a successful contract period, there is the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role based on performance and mutual agreement. This opportunity allows for both flexibility and the potential for long term employment.
