As creatives we are often expected to be “on” all the time, ready to deliver art, thinking and solutions at the drop of a hat, or at least damn near close to it. With movements like slow food and slow vacations on the rise, would it be so odd to give ourselves, purposeful and planned time and space to detach ourselves from any existing patterns or thoughts so we can truly bring new thinking and ideas to the table or canvas? Join us for what is sure to be an inspiring and thoughtful discussion about how time off, getting away and just unplugging to find new avenues for thinking and doing has built the creative life of Artist and photographer, Kevin Hoth. We’re so pleased to have this talk at our new home, within the walls of CU’s CMCI studio at 1301 Walnut Avenue in Boulder.

Kevin Hoth is an artist, photographer, educator, father, and board rider. Kevin has made photographic work for over twenty years spanning diverse processes such as polaroid manipulations, digital manipulations, slideshow performances, and video installations. Kevin has taught college courses in print and web design, video art, and photography at numerous universities. He taught in the Technology Arts and Media program for the last nine years at the University of Colorado Boulder. Kevin was born and raised in Wisconsin though he has also lived in Spain, Utah, Nantucket Island, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington State, New Mexico, regular Mexico and quite possibly somewhere else. His work is represented in Colorado by Walker Fine Art in Denver, CO.

Fun facts: He did a stint as a full-time graphic designer for Amazon.com, made an interactive garment that played odd bodily noises back in 2006, collaborated extensively with a modern dance company as a VJ, and played bass in a Seattle band that played live on KEXP-Seattle.
