Rolex Saves Owen Wilson’s Life (what?!)

By / /

Some of the worst, most exploitive marketing we’ve ever seen from MelroseJewelers.com.

It was a dark period in Wilson’s life, and Rolex played a key role in helping Owen regain his bearings and his success…. [Owen Wilson] was seen riding his mountain bike in Santa Monica with the Rolex Submariner on his wrist. Obviously, the quality of a Rolex watch helped Owen realize and appreciate the quality of his own life…

Whatever the hawks of the media choose to write, it is clear that Rolex played a major role in Owen Wilson’s recovery… wearing a Rolex Submariner and attending Rolex Benefits helped Owen Wilson realize his life was valuable and worth living.

The friend who found this link called to complain. After getting nowhere with a sales rep, the rep called back and told him to “f*cking meet him and he would f*cking kick my ass.” (Correction: The threat was in the initial call, the follow-up call was an apology.)

I was just cruising their blog and it’s VERY Perez. VERY LA. It might not be an excuse, but it’s a reason.

This is un-fucking-believable. I can’t even understand how someone thought this was a good idea. I wonder if they’ll be a shitstorm when Rolex corporate gets wind of this?

I’m the guy who called and told the friend who sent it on to you. In reality, he said he would kick my fucking ass on the initial call, but called back to apologize. The sales guy doesn’t write the blogs and is obviously stressed… Shitty customer service / PR, but at least he had the class to call back. Still classless fucks overall, but wanted to set the record straight.

Unbelievable that people could sink so low in such a public way. Its so sad how celebrities are objectified even when they go through something personal and horrible. Just makes me sad. Pathetic. Really. Just awful. Shameless.
