Radio Airwaves to Become Tolerable Again

By / /

We don’t wish any ill-will on local jeweler, Shane Co., who has just filed for bankruptcy. No, actually, we do. Their grating, nasaly radio spots have polluted Denver’s drive-time commercial breaks since we were yeah-high to Mama Egotist’s knee. Go away now, Tom Shane, and leave us to enjoy a little more Big Mike Naughton Ford in the space you’ve left behind.

I wonder if there is a connection between horrible commercials and bankruptcy, hmmmmm? I’ll bet there is.

I wish that were the case.

I wish that were the case. Jake Jabs and Dealin’ Doug are still going strong. Bastards.

A few years back I almost ran off the road from laughing due to a Tom Shane spot. “I’m Tom Shane, and this holiday season, give that special woman what she really wants: a pearl necklace.” I heard that spot a couple of times, then I guess somebody in the office said something, because “pearl necklace” became “strand of pearls.” Bless Tom and his clueless white-guy self.

    Actually, I thought Frontier

Actually, I thought Frontier had good commercials – didn’t help them from being bitten by the bankruptcy bug. Nice sentiment by the way, about a local company who’ve been around since I was a kid, going under. Very professional.

    Now that you can create

Now that you can create diamonds in a lab for a fraction of the price, I think we’ll be losing a lot more “friends” in the diamond business. Friends who obviously haven’t seen or care about the damage the real diamond trade actually does. And DeBeers can kiss my arse. Diamond-hoarding, price-fixing fuckers.

    Is Shane a local business?

Is Shane a local business? Those commercials run in other markets.
