By The Denver Egotist / / It’s always questionable to run across two ad concepts that mirror each other. But, and this may be for the first time ever, we’ve unearthed three near-replicas — and one’s the spot Skechers ran during the Super Bowl on Sunday night. The first (and original?) was created in 2005 from Denver’s own Genesis for the BolderBOULDER. The second, posted to YouTube in July of 2006, appeared at Cannes the same year. Created by Leo Burnett Paris, it promoted Charal Meats. Last but not least, you probably remember Skechers man vs. cheetah ad from two nights ago. Safe to put this concept to bed now?

    There was also a Mountain Dew ad featuring a guy on a mountain bike chasing down a cheetah.

    When I saw that spot I
    When I saw that spot I thought it seemed like something an advertising student would come up with. First level idea. Nobody ripped anyone off. They all just went for the first idea that popped into their heads.

    I agree with Anonymous, the
    I agree with Anonymous, the idea is not so special that no one has ever or will ever have it again. While there are real cases of stolen ideas, sometimes the idea just isn’t that good (see Etsy and Urban Outfitters: http://bit.ly/Wt1TTB)
