The 53:14 Music Video Experiment — sponsored by the Fort Collins Music Experiment, The Colorado Sound and others — gives filmmakers and musicians a limited window (53 hours and 14 minutes) to produce an original music video. Chad Weber teamed up with fellow Colorado filmmaker Steve Vanderheide of Vanderheide Visuals to meet the challenge.

Here’s how it went down:

“We had the weekend to plan, shoot and edit a music video. We met the band — Audible — via video chat Friday night to concept the video. Drove down to Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon to shoot through that evening. Steve edited Saturday. I color graded Monday.

It was a great experience. We were surprised at the level of participation from complete strangers on the street — capturing genuine reactions of participants — willing to yell and cry on camera. It was a great reminder of the potential of the creative collective under constraints.”
