Pandemic Marketing from the MLB is Getting Kooky

Desperate on multiple levels to recreate an authentic experience for players, get fans back into rooting for their team and generate income, Major League Baseball is getting weird with its marketing. Most notably, teams are now selling the chance for fans to buy a cardboard cutout of themselves to be placed in the stands during games. Prices vary from $49-$299 (wha?) — but do include the chance to receive a signed baseball should a ball hit your cardboard self. Artificial crowd noise pumped into the stadium will make the games seem that much more unreal.
