Earlier this year, Ryan Lee of Think to Make was invited by Backcountry.com and Ruth Sims to journey down to the Columbian Amazon and photograph the pursuit to catch monstrous peacock bass. With two weeks notice and not a lot of details, Ryan packed his bags and hopped on a flight to meet up with all the anglers in Bogota — starting a three-day journey to their camp, which was almost 170 river miles into the middle of the jungle. They would venture out each morning just after sun up to explore the lagoons off the sides of the river where these world record-sized fish dwell. Read the full recap of the trip and see more images over on Backcountry’s Explore blog.
