I have been a visual designer for over 25 years with a primary focus on printed collateral but for the last two years, I’ve been pivoting toward UX/UI. I completed a self-paced UX/UI Design TechDegree course at Treehouse.com last year. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I completed a 12-week UX Design Immersive course with General Assembly. Both courses covered a wide array of topics: user research methods, user testing methods, wireframing, prototyping, and user interface design to name but a few. I see myself as a part of a small- to mid-sized team comprised of creative (and fun!) problem solvers who really know how to listen to and focus on the user. I don’t have a strong preference whether this is an agency role or an in-house role. It would be great if this new career was somehow tied into outdoor recreation, sustainability, technical gear, and/or living a healthy/active lifestyle.
