Planet Propaganda | Senior Brand Strategist
Hey there. We are Planet Propaganda, and we’re looking for a Senior Strategist to join a great team of creative co-conspirators.
You might be the right person for the job if you can demonstrate experience and unique ways of thinking about how brands can function as a form of shorthand for how we tell ourselves who we are, and how we rally together, in small groups, subcultures, or across culture, around the products and brands that influence our individual and collective identities.
Some things to know to help you succeed in this role:
*Planet works with all sizes, shapes and forms of brands, from start-ups and non-profits to publicly traded companies, public equity firms, and anyone in between. But most importantly, we want to help do bold, eye-catching, effective work to take business farther than most people think they can go.
*If you’re interested, know that you will be ideating, developing, and executing strategies across a variety of categories and industries.
*Also know that you’ll be doing a wide-range of what falls under “brand strategy” or “communications strategy,” so sometimes that will be building creative briefs for ad campaigns; sometimes it will mean helping a company build internal consensus to retain and attract talent; sometimes it will have nothing to do with “advertising strategy” and be focused on helping a company get acquired, helping a company craft the right message for another company they acquired, or helping a company figure out how to shift a mindset in order to sell an existing product to a new audience long before a creative platform or an ad campaign gets ideated. And then, also, sometimes (and they are FUN times) it will be working with an awesome Creative Team to craft some amazing campaigns.
Ok, here is what we need you to bring to the table in order to be a great fit for this role:
*Required Skills and Competencies:
*7 – 10 years of experience in an agency-side strategy department or brand strategy shop
*Have experience managing small teams
*Will bring a tool box of methodologies that you can flexibly adapt to complement (and fine-tune) our current approach
*Are exceptional at finding, conducting, interpreting, and distilling research into simple and compelling insights that fuel great stories and superb presentations
*Are boundlessly curious, and push yourself continually to ask better questions that will reveal the unexpected nuggets that lead to big results
*Can explain creative ideas in terms of business problems to anyone from a CEO to a junior copywriter with unwavering clarity
*Have a solid understanding of business metrics, and how customers' brand experiences drive them. Or, to put more of a point on it, demonstrate that you are willing and able to get excessively embedded in a client’s business and operational realities.
*Possess confidence and a POV, tempered with humility and a collaborative spirit
*This is a remote/hybrid-remote position, so, if you’re based outside of Madison, WI, which is where Planet’s office is located, we encourage you to apply, but this position will be the best fit for someone who is either within a reasonable driving distance from Madison (ex. Chicago), or at least based in the Midwest. Neither of those apply to you? Reach out anyway if you’re interested.
*Know the relevant software well: Google suite (Google Drive/Slides/Docs/Sheets, etc) Other presentation formats (i.e. PowerPoint / Keynote), Familiarity with some go-to Strategy research tools (there are a lot of these, so make sure you can talk about how you’ve used a few if we get to have a conversation with you), Social Listening, being better at Googling stuff than the average person, etc.
