Summary & Responsibilities
The Biennial of the Americas seeks a Marketing, Communications and Graphic Design Coordinator to support the marketing and promotion of its biennial festival of ideas, arts and culture. The Biennial of the Americas is the only festival of art and ideas in the world focused exclusively on the Americas. The Festival brings together our growing network of business, civic and government leaders from across our hemisphere to explore solutions to shared issues, and foster more substantive political, commercial and cultural exchange.
Launched in 2010, the Biennial was formed around the transformational idea that the north-south axis is a critical nexus of business and social import, which receives too little attention. Our roster of ongoing programs provides year-round opportunities to connect with others in the hemisphere, inspire and be inspired by positive change happening in our backyard, and invest in ideas with the potential to make lasting impacts.
The Marketing, Communications and Graphic Design Coordinator will work with our team to market and promote our signature event, the Biennial of the Americas festival in Denver, Colorado. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, self-starter to assist in the development and implementation of our marketing communications, promotions and engagement plans. Strong candidates should also be able to provide demonstrated experience in graphic design, web management, social media tactics, and written communication skills. We are a nonprofit organization with a small and passionate team of doers. All team members are expected to maintain high-quality work in their area of specialization, while maintaining a willingness to assist the team in other areas.
~ Create and maintain content for all digital marketing channels including monthly newsletter, email campaigns, and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Nextdoor etc.). Optimizes content for search engines and lead generation.
Manages website through Wix including developing and writing content, maintaining continuity of themes, designing layout, streamlining navigation and increasing online presence.
~ Utilizes analytics to evaluate website visits, newsletter opens, bounces, clicks, and user data and utilizes this information to target attendees and drive engagement.
~ Develop, implement and manage paid social media campaigns, grow social audiences and content reach on all major platforms, actively and frequently propose and pursue new and improved outreach and social media marketing ideas.
~ Work in partnership with the team to deploy successful marketing and communication campaigns and own the implementation from ideation to execution.
~ Create promotional materials and print media including collateral materials, posters, rack cards, postcards, brochures, videos, event invitations and other promotional and marketing pieces. From concept to design, review and final placement.
~ Partner with external PR team to develop and coordinate local market activities, promotions and opportunities.
~ Support events with marketing efforts, promotions and on-site assistance.
Key Skills Required:
~ Master wordsmith and stellar storyteller, enthusiastic, positive communication and an eye for grammar and editing
~ Demonstrated experience marketing & content development events &/or festivals or equivalent experience
~ Appreciation for arts, culture and international relations
~ Passionate about fostering community and audience building
~ Organized and detail-oriented, proven self-starter with a proactive mindset.
~ Fluency in Spanish is a plus!
~ Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, HTML, Google Drive, WIX, CAPWriting, content management systems, and any software commonly used for creating marketing material and social content.
