Description

We are a professional art studio in Englewood, CO and currently accepting resumes for a full-time art studio assistant position with a focus in collage and mixed media.

// IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS //
• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or degree in related field of study
• Ability to take direction from Artist or Art Director and, most importantly, to receive and implement feedback daily
• Experience working in a high paced arts production environment, or other high paced work environment with an ability to change focus and direction regularly throughout the work day
• High level of attention to detail and high standards for completed works that will leave studio
• General artistic ability and some knowledge of painting, collage, and mixed media techniques
• Knowledge of color, the color wheel, and sorting and combining colors
• Ability to draw directly from life or to sketch freehand
• Team player who is comfortable shifting from task to task to assist others
• Ability to adapt and improve upon current processes within studio to help constantly improve production
• Hard working with a focus on output: this position involves a certain level of creativity and design but is primarily a production job
• Medium+ proficiency with Adobe creative suite, including PhotoShop and Illustrator; general knowledge of computers/technology
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 8-10 hours a day
• Must be able to move about the studio to access tools, technology and artworks
• Must be able to manipulate art tools, including scissors, X-acto knives, paint brushes and similar
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs
• Ability to observe details at a close range
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work (occasional) weekends and overtime as needed
• Reliable transportation to and from work

// JOB DESCRIPTION //
• Assist artist directly with production of 2D and mixed media works of art, ranging in size from 12" x 12" to 4’ x 8’
• Prepare backgrounds with paint and glue for 2D work and draw out new works using projector/computer
• Assist with producing artworks for studio in a timely fashion
• Meet all deadlines for both clients and gallery shows by managing studio workflow
• Assist with designing elements within 2D works as needed by Artist or Art Director
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within 2D studio
• Willingness to shift from tasks as needed for studio
• Catalogue printed works, sketches and reference materials
• Log information about works as they are being created; record data about pieces
• Use scissors or xacto to cut out papers or designs
• Finish/seal artworks before framing (glue, paint details)
• Sort and organize colored papers into various drawers and bins based on color and texture
• Photograph works in progress and photograph final works for studio archive and client use
• Be able to shift to new responsibilities as the needs of the studio change over time

// SCHEDULE + UPCOMING AVAILABILITY //
Our work day is 8 hours, plus a 45 minute lunch break (ie. 9:00am-5:45pm, with 45 minutes allocated midday for a meal break). These times may change based on workflow and demand so you will be asked to be flexible when those situations arise.

We are looking to fill this position by the end of September.

Interviews will be conducted Monday 9/20-Tuesday 9/21. An in-studio trial day will take place for those candidates advanced to the next round on Wednesday 9/22-Thursday 9/23. If possible, the first day of work for this role will be Monday 9/27.

// COMPENSATION //
Starting pay is $20.50/hr, possibly higher if commensurate with years of experience. Hourly rate will be reviewed within first few months to reflect skill, proficiency, work ethic, and breadth of job responsibilities.
