New York trumpeter Jonathan Saraga presents a night of straight ahead standards featuring a band composed of top shelf Colorado based artists for this one-night-only occasion.

Jonathan Saraga – trumpet, Max Light – guitar, Eric Gunnison – piano, Gonzalo Teppa – bass, Colin Stranahan – drums.

Jonathan’s “lust for musical life and don’t-box-me-into-a-stylistic-corner mentality make him seem like the musical offspring of trumpeters Dave Douglas and Ambrose Akinmusire” (-All About Jazz), and his music has been called “inventive” (-JazzWise, U.K.), “profound, beautifully-crafted” and “glorious” (-Jazz da Gama), “brilliant and technically spot-on” (-Debbie Burke, Jazz Author), and has been said to feature “astonishing maturity” (-Jazz Magazine, France).

Saraga has played with the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, the Birdland Big Band, The Mingus Big Band, Orrin Evans’ Captain Black Big Band, the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, and the Jimmy Greene Big Band, as well as in ensembles led by Tyshawn Sorey, Steve Coleman, and Henry Cole. He has received recognition and accolades from the International Trumpet Guild, ASCAP, BMI, Downbeat, the International Society for Improvised Music, the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers, the Louis Armstrong Foundation, the International Songwriting Competition and the Jazz Foundation of America.
