Call it the iTunes effect - Song from Goodby commercial jumps the charts
Remember back when Apple would put semi-unknown artists in their iPod/iTunes commercials and the next day they'd be topping the charts? Well iTunes isn't the only way to get noticed. You could get into a Super Bowl spot.
The Chevy Sonic Anthem Super Bowl commercial created by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners featured a bungee jumping car, pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and the song “We are Young” by fun. While bungee sales may not have increased much since the game, “We are Young” has been shooting up the iTunes charts since the Chevy spot aired during the second quarter, jumping from #38 to #4 overnight. The song has also hit #1 on the Alternative Rock chart, thanks to its exposure in one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
We predict this song will now be used in approximately 26,402 nationwide agency pitch rip-o-matics over the next 3 months.
