Amazon Kindle: Fly Me Away

This is really great on a number of levels. Directed by Angela Kohler and Ithyle Griffiths. Starring Annie Little who also sang the song “Fly Me Away.”

nice style, great visuals, pleasant music. however, it doesn’t realy feel like an ad for kindle. and this “books in 60 seconds” thing makes it sound like the kindle is some sort of futuristic cliffs notes. i’m guesing it refers to how quickly you can download a new book, but it really sounds like you can make it through a book in 60 seconds.

This is not a good ad because it’s not an ad for anything.

Except maybe books, but that would be a stretch, because if you don’t already know what kindle is, you wouldn’t understand what “books in 60 seconds” might mean.

So you could easily misunderstand it in the way Stephen describes above.

Awful strategy, lazy copywriting, indulgent and misleading art direction.

I’m a hater on this one.

As a cute piece of design and animation, I love it.

As a piece of advertising, I agree with Howard. I hate it because it’s not advertising.

Not loving this piece either. seems like it trying too hard to pull off oren lavie’s ‘her morning elegance’.

on the other hand, screw the kindle, we can’t let technology take away the experience of reading a book from it’s own pages….ask the New Zealand Book Council
