The Decapitator

In the darkness of East London’s nights, someone is manipulating the advertising posters around town with graphic images of exploded heads. The decapitated images are pasted over the top of the actual ad images in perfect position. (Before and after pics of one poster below.) See more of The Decapitator’s work in this Flickr set.

THIS IS AWESOME. A friend visiting from San Francisco last week said to me “you dont really have much culture jamming here do ya… just a bunch of shitty gang tags”. I hadn’t noticed until he pointed it out, but yeah it’s true. My favorite part of taking the subway to work each morning while living in NYC for 2 years was checking out the creative ways people defaced the posters along the platforms. I have a picture folder of the best ones somewhere.
