Denver Designer/Developer Sean Herman is Going Mobile: Living, Working & Exploring from His 1976 VW Westfalia

Channeling Neale Donald Walsch who said, "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone," Sean Herman and his family of four have decided to go mobile — in the truest sense of the word. For the unforeseeable future they'll be living, working and exploring the U.S. from their 1976 VW Westfalia. Planning to be on the road for a while, they've even prepared the van with solar panels and wifi, so Sean can continue his work wherever they go.

"We are a family of four living our 80 square foot 1976 Westfalia. Under the roof you’ll find a husband who works remotely, a baby who loves to explore, a dog who loves the wind in his curly hair and a wife who’s the glue that keeps the whole thing together. We set out to explore the many great cities, parks and hidden corners of the country. Between a growing kiddo, a giant dog and a vintage camper van that breaks down from time to time, there are plenty of road bumps along the way. But like any true adventure, we wouldn’t trade it for anything. This is our life in 80sqft."

With one day under their belts, they've driven 53 miles and changed 2 diapers. You can follow along on the Eighty Square Feet journey on the family's blog, Facebook and Instagram. Good luck out there, you guys. Don't pick up hitchhikers.

Admirable move, Sir.
Well done...

Who fucking cares. Honestly, could TDE be on Sean's tip any more than they already are? First it was the news post about him going freelance - again, who cares - tons of other talented folks in Denver go freelance every week.

Oh wait - I heard he made a peanut butter sandwich for lunch today - could we get a post about that, too?

Love this. Good luck and safe travels, Sean & family for making the rest of us jealous. This will be fun to watch.

Seemed kind of interesting to me, Anonymous, and I have no idea who Sean Herman is. Maybe you're an asshole?

BTW, we're not on anyone's "tip." If people let us know what they're up to and we like it, we'll post about it. Sean's been good about that. Here's where you can send your work to us:

congrats Sean! exciting stuff to be had. best of luck.

Brave thing to do with a little one but no doubt an experience the family will never forget. Have fun out there brother. We love you and got your back here at home.

Dang, Sean! Very cool.

Thanks for inspiring us to think differently about how life can be lived. Then backing it up with action.

Keep us posted.
