Visit Laramie Invites Tourists In Despite the Government Shutdown – Via Denver's Pilgrim

/ Comments (2)

With the government shutdown, Wyoming's taking a hit to tourism with Yellowstone being closed. However, there's so much more to see in Wyoming that's still wide-open. Pilgrim has been creating and running these Facebook posts on Visit Laramie's Facebook page to open people's eyes.

Brittany Richards, assistant director of the tourism board, said they hope to attract tourists to sites they might not otherwise visit.
“We are obviously proud of Yellowstone and the great things it does that helps make tourism the number two industry in the state,” she said. “But it can also be hard for us to be in the shadow of it, and this can be a way for us to have the spotlight for a bit.” Since last Friday, the campaign has increased Likes by 10% and has had thousands of shares, including through the Wyoming Office of Tourism.
