This is rad! Killer work, Chris.

This site is too lollypop in it's reviews. These are not that good. I've seen very good work from Change the Thought but these lack great drawing and craftsmanship. The type is generic. They looked rushed an amateur like a school assignment.

Sometimes we just like to present what's going on and not attach an opinion to it. It's too exhausting to critique every piece we ever post. Is that really your expectation? BTW, we like this work.

Is this a legitimate licensed work or just bootleg fan art?

Sorry to disappoint. I just included the Egotist in a promotional mailer I sent out to announce the release today. They decided to post the news.

Worked super hard on these. And it's not licensed because this film is in the public domain. Just trying to do something new outside the normal spectrum of advertising and such. These are meant for the poster collecting audience that I've become a part of. It's kind of a nerd thing that falls outside of a lot of what's covered on the Egotist. Just turning over a new leaf or two.

Bums me out how negative this community can be sometimes. It's a tough scene here for sure.

Thanks for the support. Long live Denver creativity.

Without the negative comments the positive ones would have no value. It's like art school with out critiques. I didn't just say these suck, I gave feedback as to why I didn't like them.

Denver needs thicker skin. This is not a tough scene. Thicker skin leads to national quality work ask anyone at CPB, W&K, Pentagram.

Then leave your name and a link to your national quality portfolio of work so people can look at it, get inspired and aspire to your level.

Put yourself out there and take an active role instead of just jeering from the stands. Otherwise your opinions lack credibility. It's just school yard bullying. And there is way too much of it on this website.

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything like that. I appreciate your criticism and comments, It's just hard to take them seriously when there is no real human being there backing them up.

2 likes + 1 honest critique + 1 question = 1 bruised ego. It would be interesting to get critiques from other illustrators. But alas this is not art school.

But alas still not enough courage to post your name and stand behind your words. At least in 'art school' the person has to look you in the eye during the critique.

I didn't say I was any better or worse. This isn't about me trying to show you up. I don't believe this is a site for people to come and get their egos stroked, we are all adults working in business. Not using my name isn't about courage. I find this comment fascinating only people who get a negative critique ever bring this up. You didn't ask the person who said it was rad who they were. Your feelings are hurt. You can focus on that or you can dismiss it or look at the work and ask yourself, is there merit in the critique. Use it as fuel, You don't need to apologize for disappointing (as you stated). It's simple. If you submit it be prepared for opinions, this isn't t-ball where everyone gets a trophy. Doing work people don't always like doesn't hurt your credibility, we've all done sub par work. Whining about a negative critique does.

Chris, I hate to say it, but opinion is right. You're being extremely defensive about an honest critique that in no way compared you to someone else. You do amazing work. I follow everything Change the Thought does. But you're not going to knock it out of the park every.single.time, and I think this might be one of those lesser times. I applaud you for doing something non-advertise-y. Just can't say I'm a huge fan of this particular one. Keep doing what you're doing and take the good critiques with the bad, when they're honest and can provide value. No trolling here. And if I ever get to see you in person, I'd be happy to offer honest feedback. Just can't put my name on a site where if you disagree with the wrong person it comes back to bite you because you immortalized it online.

Cool. No worries. Different strokes for different folks. Thanks for the feedback.

Reason #1,289,783 why anonymous comments are truly tainting this website & TDE you're dieing a slow death. and "opinion" you bring up a few national agencies in an anonymous post? really? you can't see how bush league and ironic that statement is without posting your real name or your work? classic TDE post.

but back to the poster. after seeing this in person, you guys flat out wrong. the production value alone on these is ridiculous. the fit on the metallic inks in the tiny hairs is amazing. you can't even begin to get the real feel of these with some shots posted on the internet. these photos don't do them any justice.

Agreed, anonymous comments totally lack credibility hurt this site.

There's people doing good work, and then there's the people who wish they were doing good work and those are the the people who post their "Opinion" anonymously.

I'd like to know who positive comments come from, too. Again, it puts the critique into perspective.

I'll be honest. I took this to heart. I've been meaning to really dedicate myself to become a better illustrator and the opinions expressed here made me think hard about that. I think it was a little off to compare this to award winning advertising since that's not at all what this was for but I do want to become a better illustrator and finally 'find my style'. I've been drawing like crazy since this was posted and have decided to commit myself to drawing something every single day if I can. So there was defInitely something positive that came out of this. The poster was posted on just about every poster, comic book, nerd and movie poster site out there so that was great, but I am dedicated to 'going back to the drawing board' so to speak and generating some much more expressive and better work in the future. I let go of traditional illustration long ago for the pursuit of graphic design, advertising and typography. It left a hole in my artistic heart that is yet unfulfilled and I want to strive to better myself at it again as much as I can. You definitely make more money at advertising but drawing and illustrating have always made me feel very happy and I want to bring that feeling back into my professional work.

Anonymous or not I do really appreciate the honest feedback and comments. It's all about trying hard and pushing to get better at whatever you choose to do creatively.
