Hear Ye! By Sir Richard’s Decree: November 13 is Birth Control Day
Breaking today, Boulder's Sir Richard’s Condoms creates a non-procreators’ holiday via an online and social media campaign by advertising agency TDA_Boulder. The aim is to build awareness of birth control in general and, specifically, of Sir Richard’s chemical-free manufacture. The homepage at birthcontrolday.com proclaims:
Join us this November 13 in celebrating the first annual Birth Control Day, a holiday commemorating the responsible decision of choosing not to be a parent.
While we have nothing against parents, or even children for matter, we encourage you and your significant other to celebrate the ability to fornicate to your heart’s content without procreating.
And if in your celebrating you end up using a Sir Richard’s condom, know that you’re using a prophylactilc free of harmful chemicals like spermacide, parabens and glycerin...

Site visitors can choose from 12 digital “Happy Birth Control Day” cards to send their loved one(s), via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or email. Each card links back to the microsite, and the microsite links to Sir Richard’s.
November 13 is the date on which, in 1921, feminist pioneer Margaret Sanger was arrested for trying to keep the New York City Police from closing down the nation’s first American Birth Control Conference at the city’s Plaza Hotel. The arrest caused a riot among her followers and newspaper reports said “a great crowd followed the prisoners... down 43rd street to Broadway, 3000 strong.” It is in Sanger’s and that unruly crowd’s honor that Sir Richards has proclaimed 11/13/12 Birth Control Day.
