Site Launch: The Broadmoor - Via VOLTAGE and Vladimir Jones
The Broadmoor hotel, arguably Colorado’s most iconic, luxurious, and historic resort, has received a complete website re-design and overhaul courtesy of VOLTAGE, Louisville. Working with Vladimir Jones, VOLTAGE provided web design and brand design elements that incorporated a new color palette, a screen sweeping site design, and a unique user experience and site navigation.

Not terrible, but the design is kind of flat...a bit unbalanced (weighted to the left), and as far as the unique UX/Nav goes...what's up with the double drop down? Pretty poor UX IMO. And there's other little things too...like on the timeline...I can't actually scroll w/o interacting with the arrows? Not to mention there's no way to click between years w/o scrolling...About as far as I got...Other than the photos, doesn't really seem to do the Broadmoor justice...Overall a "C"
at least it matches the Broadmoor's flat print/tv campaign
I actually like the design. Also, in keeping with the debate we had here last week, I would love to sample some of the work of the 'Anonymous' commenters. You guys are certainly allowed to voice your opinions. However, put your name on it and provide a link to your work. I am sure that your portfolios are great and will only lead credence to your comments. You obviously took the time out of your incredibly busy and important day to grade some work you saw on a blog. I would hate to have your articulate, grounded comments be overlooked simply because someone thought it was coming from an 'anonymous' douche bag.
The picture is gorgeous, as is the resort. I was recently viewing some main picture wallpaper websites, and given there growing popularity with such amazing photographers featured in the likes of Communication Arts, it's a great design to experience and have a website be a vehicle to place!
I thought the newer photography covered interfaces were getting more integrated slightly in text and blocking placement that are making them more advanced in their simplicity.
VOLTAGE would like to clarify that VJ was the lead on this project. As AOR, VJ was responsible for strategy, concept, UX, wireframing and content. VOLTAGE partnered on design and color work with the direction of VJ's creative team. We were both excited to see those designs made it through a long development process and launch. Credit goes fully to VJ for successfully launching a beautiful site with one of their great clients The Broadmoor and to The Broadmoor for having the vision and creativity to see it through to launch.
