Local Photographer Explores Inhibition with White Underwear and Paint

/ Comments (7)

In what will be the most uninhibited year of the decade — the year to let go -– it seems fitting to explore the ways people hold themselves back.

In a series of photography sessions over the course of 3 days (she began yesterday), Ashley Davis Tilly gathers strangers in different age groups, throws them together in a room with a bucket of white paint wearing nothing but tightey whities.

"When and where do our inhibitions come from? By photographing the candid interactions between these people, I hope to see how and where we hold back, and if age makes any difference.

The origin of this project came from looking at my own inhibitions and conservative southern upbringing...Sometimes I catch myself holding back when I really want to jump in."

The project is underway in Boulder through Saturday the 28th, with a new age group coming into the studio each night to paint. Ashley will be rolling out the new material from each group into this gallery at 5pm each evening

Davis Tilly Photography is after the human experience — authentic, organic and fresh. Based in Boulder, her clients include the City of Boulder, The Kitchen Restaurants, and Sunset Magazine.
