Denver's Amélie Company Rebrands Themselves
Why a new look?
"The answer is simple: it was time to do it. In the last year, we’ve grown. We’re made up of almost entirely new faces. We have new clients. We’re doing new work. So, we thought, let’s embrace this new-ness. Let’s turn the page. Let’s evolve. And, now that we have, it’s time to formally re-introduce ourselves."
Creative Director Gordy Hirsch tells us a new site is also on the way soon.

it looks like burton...or something
Looks good. Congrats on the newness.
Fresh. I like.
kinda dated looking, and they underlined LIE with company.
i like it, glad they are not following that vintagy, faux-1950's letterpress type trend that is all by everywhere these days and doing something clean.
Looks a lot like the logo that won the identity category in this years Art Directors club. A LOT.

You think it looks A LOT like this? http://www.adcd.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/10_castlelogo1.img_assist...
I don't think so, not even the same font if you look at the "e"
Congrats Amelie. Not familiar with you work until now, welcome to the hate world of the egotist.
Good work! It's refreshing to have something for something different. Font typeface as a logo style itself has subtle variances that are harder to differentiate.
People hate what they don't understand or know, and especially when they feel inferior and ocluded. Or perhaps small-minded being judgmentally biased. It's not a competition in Coolate, broaden your thinking and look around!?!
Nice and clean. Good work Gordy.
You really have to choose your battles with copying, since warhols introduction of mass printing of industrial pop art. It's just a logo. Their are billions of logos. A bicycle with a cone combined is a popular web shape with maps and mapquest even w/negative space detracted. Who owns colors? Hard to prove with many overlaying similarities. Certain styles go for certain statements of course, gets old, but I'd save the stolen copy card for more important. Like legal ruling against spoofs and frauds.
A logo is a logo? Is it that cherished, like the only one you made for your special company you built from the ground up?
A creative formula is a concept replicated in many forms and versions, especially popular trendings.
The AC mark reminds me of OCP, from Robocop.
From Speak Up Archives about the former Quark logo redesign: "Surely, they could have opted for a different design element, one not as commonly used, but why should they stop when no one else has?".
Makes an interesting debate either way you feel on the subject.

The way the logo is done on the window grid is very cool. I like it.
'Under Consideration' is a good point and debate topic. I am old fashioned when it comes to attention to detail and designing in ones personalized style. It is harder to find today, especially with all on computer design and programs. Many do not pay attention to such specific detail, and that article was written more during that design transition. Many designs begin to look monotonous and similar, but it is not all that important to denote or bring attention of they get the job done with efficient full service. I can tell the difference having had that training but little do I fuss over it or hold it to people. I wouldn't dare say they suck and or any of it is better or designers. It is all out there and gives a variety of option and purposes of focus, and perhaps specializations of craft.
That teardrop shape is definitely not proprietary. But people should also be aware of the work. would think twice before throwing a rapping leprachaun spot out into the market right now.
Great seeing you guys growing and changing. Good work.
Am I missing something? It's an "a" not a teardrop shape.
@jmease55 haha, awesome.
I think it looks nice and clean, but didn't they change one of the most critical parts of the name? They changed the accent on the é to a long vowel sound. Doesn't that change the pronunciation?
Congrats, Gordy, you punk.
