Helicarts and Rooftop Golf
The second spot in the Factory-Design-Labs-developed-Justin-Timberlake-consulted campaign for Callaway's RAZR clubs ran this Saturday. Here the one-minute version, featuring Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey. Golf advertising will never be the same.

Nicely done Factory.
I like the disclaimer: Fictionalization No One Can or Should Do This
This one was the best one yet. Little subtleties like the camera angle with the helicopter flying in. It did not block the green neon callaway lit sign which should get some additional seconds. Also the clean segmenting and the Callaway name in black reflection on the black windows.
Anyone know what did justin timberlake add to the creative on this spot?
He added his name. Really, I have no clue. Maybe he started a media biz like Ashton or something? Anybody. Anybody. ?
Still think the golfers look super nerdy.
The failed attempt at cool handshake in the beginning.
The awkward high five in the middle.
The little fist pump at the end.
Super nerdy white boys.
Hi my name is Anonymous Egotist Troll, I'm sitting at home and I'm NOT working on cool and fun campaigns like this one that actually demonstrate a different idea for once, or ones that other local creative shops have done... so rather than doing something about it and trying to do cool work too, I'm going to go bash others and their agencies for their efforts to do something different. Oh! - and while I'm at it, I might make a comment to bash the people the commercial is about who are also very successful in life, I think I'll call them "super nerdy white boys" and giggle behind my computer screen as I press the post button.
That was fun. Nice job Factory
for how much $ was spent to shoot this
i thought there would have been more convincing shots planned/used for the ball landing on the green, especially towards the end, that roll the ball on the green shot kind of ruined it for me, some weird edits in that first tee off too
but i liked this spot, defintely does something different with marketing a boring sport, though it did make me think of spike jonze and dinosaur jr's feel the pain video
especially @3:57
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQZmrdwK7YM
wow what an awful video, but look how slim and young j mascis looks
is that guy that Dinosaur Jr. tees off of his black rimmed glasses Jonah Hill's dad and mentor?
It seems so.
Par 4 is a bitch, par 4 is a bitch.
The timing of the VO and instrumentals are impeccable to building action excitement and the movement of scenes and graphics.
Wow.
Really racist comment.
Golf is inharently white and kind of slow and boring to watch. What are you going to do.
I think factory did a great job of making the sport and the club seem young and cool.
I don't think most golf consumers would find the high fives and hand shakes nerdy.
Nice work.
They used JT's name.
And the other subtleties like the handshake the highfives the hat pull the golfball pointer viewfinder the fist pump where cheese, but they helped edit in silent communication. Sports indicators. They were reserved and weren't grunting and mouth facking repeatedly, sissy golfers.
Did you burn up you whole payment invoice on heli fuel and travel to be an extra? Experiencing and being part of it wasn't a thrill enough? I'm sure they will re-imburse for that if you fill out the documented charges on the expense ledger and submit it. I didn't know these cost any money? Like the camera guy and editors wanna get paid?
Guess I am just on the spectator end.
Scripted, scripted gestures; what is not? And it is not THAT cheesy.
These stunts make golf exciting. Just because televised tournies don't move fast on the screen like a music video or fast paced sport doesn't make it boring, it has a story and following.
Golf culture has come a long way. Anna reps a huge womens market and there are a bunch of minor circuits out there with many young rising names merging the *Usual Suspects* which everything needs.
I like the Spike Jonze video better tho!
Aerial golf balls need green hockey puck like lasers. Just watch the leaders board.
Ebel and Olson are kick ass. These spots are going to change golf marketing. Callaway is cool for the first time in years. Good for you guys.
