Whopperlust: CP+B Gives Away 50k Whoppers in One Week as Its Last Blast for Burger King
CP+B has given away 50,000 Whoppers this week and counting on DirecTV in a really cool Burger King campaign that has us wondering how McGarryBowen (BK's new AOR) is going to possibly eclipse this idea out of the gate.
The campaign is on DirecTV on channel 111 and is airing until the end of the week. If you stare at a spinning Whopper for 5 minutes on channel 111 – you get a free Whopper. If you stare at it for 10 minutes you get 2 free Whoppers, and so on. So far, Americans have stared for over 300,000 minutes. If viewership continues at this pace, America will have stared at a spinning Whopper for 13,500 hours (810,000 minutes) before the weekend rolls around.
CP+B know people are actually watching because alerts pop up at random intervals. If the staree does't press the corresponding button on their remote, they don’t get the Whopper.
Wendy's, Arby's, Quiznos, Subway, Chipotle, what are you waiting for? Call CP+B already.

Ah, I think maybe there's a chance this wasn't Crispin's idea. BBDO Toronto did it first, for Swiss Chalet:

Agreed. This idea was already done in Canada by Swiss Chalet early this year. They have a rotisserie chicken channel on 24hrs.
