Introducing AngryBovine, The Newest Boulder Agency
Jay Farracane just moved from the Bay Area to Boulder and brought his design consultancy AngryBovine with him. AngryBovine has hit the ground running, with a lot of work in progress for adjacent businesses in Boulder and Denver. Two of their newest projects are featured below.
RockyMounts, a respected rack designer and manufacturer located in Boulder, held a call for entries for submissions of new logo designs for their corporate presence. AngryBovine's identity was eventually chosen. "The mark is called 'the stoke.' It conveys a smile, the mountains, lakes and a typographic reference all contained in a modern little capsule." The identity work has led to a deeper, more extended relationship for AngryBovine with the client.
Giveo is "Giving Democratized" – a new social platform that brings brands, charities and foundations closer to those who care about them while driving brand loyalty, advocacy and socially dynamic fundraising. AngryBovine developed the new brand, site and motion piece featured on the homepage.

Nice work Jay! I will be the first to say this guy is incredible to work with! Look forward to more great work from this studio!
I've worked with Jay in the past. His work is top notch!
Best of luck to you, Jay.
Keep 'em Flyin', Jay!
Great work, Jay! I've worked for Jay in the past and he is awesome to work for too!
When did Jay change his name to Farracane? I'm not comfortable with it. I preferred Ferracane, and frankly, his work was much better under that surname.
Christian, you do know his real first name is actualy Louis, right? ;-)
OMG! Yes. Little story about LJF you might enjoy. We're at a bar on the Embarcedero in SF. Sitting outside enjoying a beverage. There's a teak chair/bench ringed around a tree. J goes to pick it up and move it over to us and he can't. Says it's stuck, cemented to the ground. Well, I'm not so sure and go over there with a tiny bit of effort, pull it up and move it over. The moral of the story is that Jay who can ride 100 miles on his bike every day, an incredible athlete, can't pick up a bench. But will say this, he is the most talented, most disciplined designer I've worked with in 20 years. But, yes, a bit lacking in upper body strength.
Yeah! Go Jay! @Christian - that's your favorite story, isn't it?
Jay has made quite an impression in his short time in Boulder because his stuff is nice to look at but also smart. I like that every element of what he creates has a purpose. No waste, just good, clean design.
I thought the birth certificate spelled the name Ferracane...Hmmm, maybe all these years I have been spelling my name wrong!
Seriously, I'm proud of you Jay (no matter how you spell our name).
Correction: Anthem Branding created the Giveo identity.

So wait, now I'm confused.
Spec work and "logo contests" are bad, because it leads to a devaluation of creative work,
or
Spec work is good, because it can lead to "a deeper, more extended relationship with the client"?
