What Would You Ask Illustrator Scot Lefavor?
We've deemed Scot Lefavor as 'one to watch' as the rest of the nation starts to embrace his work the way we have here in Denver. We're going to talk to him about what he's been up to and what's he's scheming, along with anything else you want to know, in our next interview. Dump your questions for Scot below and we’ll piece it all together.

Scot, is your tag "weedwolf"? serious question. PS. your site's down
weedwolf's name is weedwolf.
Darn. The link isn't working. Anyway, what would you label your style of illustration?
Couple things here:
My site is down and I'm working on getting it back. Kind of embarrassing and funny at the same time.
Also, no, I am not the weedwolf.
weedwolf rocked the front of our shop. I mean, I like weed and I like wolves, but writing it quickly across the front of our building? not so much.
scot, you doing gel transfers for most of your work, or do you actually paint the imagry onto the pieces?
Where is the tallest tree and how tall is it?
Scot, why won't you respond to my sexy emails? Is it because you think I'm ugly?
Thanks!

Plastic Chapel show was gold BTW, good seeing you homey. In all seriousness, since most of the comments so far are about weedwolf (wtf), let me grease the wheels a bit. Your series for the Manifest Hope shows was among the best work there, standing up to some heavy-hitting internationally celebrated artists. You used this platform as an opportunity to discuss the issues surrounding the election rather than present yet another Obama portrait. So my question is, has this whole experience affected your opinion about making art in support of politicians in hindsight? I know your work was far more pointed than most, so if Obama proved to be a disappointment it wouldn't change your documentation of the political climate in 2008. But looking at the way some artists stuck their necks out endorsing Obama, do you think it's wise for an artist to attach themselves to the praise or criticism of something they can't control? Should it rightfully affect their reputations?
Dude, I would totally like to hear your process as well. Materials you like to use, how you go from the design elements to a final piece. Always a fan here brother!
Have you been in any pornographic films?
Loaded question, Josh!
Shit, I just want to know when your next show is because all your art sold so fast at the current one at The Shoppe and Plastic Chapel!

- What type of education? Are you self taught?
- How did you get started, what do you consider your early inspirations?
- Many people feel there should be a separation of art from design, or that design is not art. What are your thoughts?
- Approximately how long does it take for a piece like "You're done son!" to finish? How much layering is going on there?
- What's your opinion on the current independent art/design scene going on in Boulder/Denver? A few good shops and galleries are no longer around, are things slowing down?
Why Denver? I know you came out here for the snow way back when, but has the gliz and glamor of LA ever crossed you mind? With the galleries and publications out there, it would be no question that you would blow up more so than you already have.
What the dang does EHF stand for?
Personally, I wish more of my 'fine art' students were familiar with the fundamentals of design. I really feel it would better prepare them for the job market. Scot, do you think this is true? Can you market yourself effectively as an artist without understanding the role of design?
I want to know why you bother with shaving? Is it the wind resistance it creates while cycling? I understand that. Grow that luxurious facial mask out man! :)
