Shoot The Banker

For angry, jobless, (drunken?) Americans desperately seeking a way to burn off pent-up frustration, the new self-initiated project from four “artists” may be just what the doctor order. At ShootTheBanker.com, angry humans queue up behind other angry humans (much like the line at the post office) for their chance to aim and fire a paintball gun at a live actor playing the role of “banker” on a faux stage. All while he fires his best shit-talk back at you. Before you go postal for real, give this thing a whirl. Ah, America.

UPDATE: Late last night we reported this site was developed by a certain extremely prominent local agency (per these guys at Comunicadores). Since then, we’ve been barraged with emails and comments from the creators saying that agency isn’t involved. We’re not completely convinced, as we were given a Denver/Boulder 303 area code number to call to find who is “really” behind the site. They’ve yet to pick up. We’ll update again if we hear more.

UPDATE #2: It appears the site was created by a group of artists in Boulder, including Brigham White, Richard Fleming, Aaron Mcguire and Taran Chadha – an out-of-work advertiser who resides in Boulder with a resume and portfolio that pretty much has us in awe. Here’s a quote we got back in an email from the group this morning, “We are 4 artists, 2 of us out of work, who wanted to help people laugh more at the recession instead of living in fear. We filmed the whole thing in my garage, you can come check it out.” Maybe we will.
