EAS: Larry Fitzgerald USA Today Ad Via Mighty Karma

/ Comments (9)

Mighty Karma, a Denver shop we’re hungry to see more work from, sent us this full-page ad they developed for their client EAS to run in USA Today before the Bowl that was Super last weekend. The ad features Arizona Cardinals speed demon Larry Fitzgerald, some nice copy from freelancer Steve Dolbinski and a well art-directed photo from Mighty Karma’s own Andy Sherman via Portland sports photographer Steve Bonini. The group got some time with Fitzgerald the week before the Super Bowl for the shoot. Cool work.

Very nice copy, although to be honest you could end the ad with “just do it.” Not saying that’s a bad thing, but it seems everyone wants to emulate Nike in a sports ad.

why on earth is this ad 4661px × 9000px?

Jeff Martin is one of the coolest creative directors in town!
The Denver Egotist I recommend you interview him and showcase it on here. They have a great shop downtown
and I have much respect for Mighty Karma. Keep up the great
work.

Do you think the CD at Mighty Karma said to the creative team, “Hey, that’s pretty cool but it’s really similar (almost exactly like) to the famous Nike ads circa 1990 so we probably shouldn’t do it”? And if he did, was the response from the creative team, “But we’re using Larry Fitzgerald instead of Jerry Rice”

Yeah, that’s an awesome ad. The way the type is centered and they did a photo shoot of the athlete holding a football on the field, really nice work. You should definitely interview the creative genius behind these ads.

Hard edge-lighting and the High Pass filter in Photoshop..try it sometime…it’s all the rage! LOL

Now there’s an intelligent way to get jobs from the few remaining agencies in town… sharp wit that Don! ROTFFLOL

You mean was the rage Don. Even Jim Fiscus dumped the high pass filter look.
