Breckenridge Brewery Agave Wheat Packaging Via Cultivator
From Cultivator, comes this Cinco de Mayo-ish label and six-pack design for Breckenridge Brewery’s new Agave Wheat. In it, they’ve replaced the traditional rose of the Mexican Dia de los Muertos image with wheat stalk. Tricky.
Agave Wheat is a new take on the ubiquitous honey wheat beers. It’s also an attempt to appeal to drinkers of light, Mexican beers, usually the antitheses of a micro-brew. Thinking about it is making us the antitheses of satisfied sitting here drinking bottled water. Fiesta (for those who can).

Anywhere we can see a close-up of the label?

Great label and my favorite order when we go to the tasting bar on Kalamath.
Love the skull illustration… and I’m extremely interested in the beer. May have to stop by Total on the way home.
On a related tip, thumbs up to Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, and Cap Rock Gin (also out of CO). Nothing to do with the labels – although CO Whiskey’s stuff is really well done.
5 Stone, here in Denver did the work for Stranahan’s. I think they are still looking for designers too.

Ah, cool, thanks for the head’s up Jack. I knew I had seen it on some agency’s portfolio, but I couldn’t remember who.
Grabbed some this evening… unfortunately, it follows suit with the rest of my Breckenridge experience: the design is better than the beer.
Granted, this is probably the most memorable of any of their beers that I’ve tried.
Dogfishhead 120 minute IPA.
Hah, yeah. It’s not that their beers are bad, it’s just that the ones I’ve tried aren’t anything to write home about. I like the Agave Wheat because it’s something different, but I think the sweetness overpowers anything else it has going on.
I think Avery and O’Dell are my favorite local breweries.
Also, I just tried New Belgium’s La Folie, and it’s amazing. Definitely worth checking out.
OK, I think I’ve met the Egotist’s beer snobbery limitations for the day.
For those of you looking for a hoppy beer from Breckenridge Brewery, try the 471 IPA. 70 BTU’s and 9.2% ABV Cheers!
