Do you believe that great advertising is about more than just selling a product? Do you stay up at night thinking about how the right idea, executed in the right way has the power to build brands, influence culture and change the world? Do you like to make things? Can you think about the big-picture while simultaneously scrutinizing the details? Do you mine creative briefs like a grizzled old prospector hungry for gold? Are you a creative thinker, with a passion for learning? If so, we should talk.
This isn’t your typical coffee-fetcher internship. As a Cactus intern, you will be an integral part of the creative team, creating work across all forms of media for a variety of state, national and international clients. You will work closely with all departments at Cactus to create integrated campaigns that deftly deliver on strategic insights and solve business objectives while simultaneously exceeding creative expectations. You will be involved in the creative process from initial concepts to final production, gaining exposure to all agency roles and processes.
With great power comes great responsibility. You will be responsible for assisting members of the Cactus team in all areas of the creative process; concepting campaigns, writing headlines, writing body copy, proofreading, and perhaps the occasional coffee run. In addition to assisting the creative team with the day-to-day workload, interns will be given ownership of their own client projects for which they will be the primary creative team
This internship is designed for college seniors or recent graduates from a creative advertising program. You should be committed to pursuing a career as a copywriter, already have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of writing for advertising, and a strong student portfolio. This internship isn’t designed to teach the basics, but rather to help talented individuals leap across the gap from being an advertising student to an advertising professional. Finally, you must work well in a team environment, as we will be hiring one writer and one art director/designer to work as a creative team.
Our internships are unpaid and potential candidates can receive academic course credit from their college/university for program completion. We ask for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Education: College senior or recent grad, some related experience, coursework or club involvement.
Interested applicants are required to submit a copy of a current resume and a completed questionnaire. Submissions can be made here: http://sharpideasdev.com/Copywriter/
