Online Media/Public Relations Internship

The Marketing Department at The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities seeks the services of a qualified, unpaid intern to assist the department in its operations. An intern should be prepared to work a minimum of 15-20 hours a week, which can be staggered to meet the individual's schedule. The internship is expected to last a minimum of 3 months to fully involve the intern in the work of the Arvada Center. We are currently seeking an intern for our summer session, to start late May and continue through August/mid-September.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Excellent writing skills
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat
3. Excellent telephone skills - media calls, research
4. A good understanding of digital graphic design
5. Solid knowledge of social media, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Tumblr, and other upcoming social media channels
6. Working and applied knowledge of HTML 4 and CSS
7. Working and applied knowledge of website statistics and analytics
8. Familiarity with “eblasting”
9. Digital video management knowledge and experience helpful
10. Ability to work independently and possess good time management skills

The duties of an intern in the Arvada Center's Marketing Department may include:
o Write and post to blog, Twitter and Facebook platforms
o Assist in maintaining the web site
o Assist with writing press releases, public service announcements and promotional copy
o Create eblast content for distribution to segments defined by promotional plan
o Involvement in planning and presenting Arvada Center special events and promotions
o Assist publicist with media interaction, follow-up phone calls to media and update/maintain media list
o Gather content (from both internal and external sources) for the creation of press releases and other materials
o Contact artists' representatives for publicity materials, maintain and monitor supply of publicity materials and send out requested promotional materials. Based on demonstrated skills may help schedule media appearances for visiting artists and accompany artists to those appearances.
o Run group and daily sales reports for Arvada Center events
o Generate web trend/analytic reports for the Arvada Center web site
o Assist with coordination of press photo shoots
o Identify new online media sources and blog sites
o Update and organize Flickr media library
o Assist with sorting and archiving slides, photo prints and b-roll for media archive
o Maintain media tracking, organize press clippings and online postings for reviews and stories
o Coordinate and attend non-media promotional ops (library reading hours, special events)

Additional duties may be assigned. Work schedules are flexible and we will work with interns to ensure appropriate learning and career growth experiences.
