Founded in 1946, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org) is a collective of passionate individuals who want to bring about a world free of multiple sclerosis. Through its dynamic nationwide chapter network, the Society funds research, furthers education, and provides services and programs to its 750,000 general members, including 400,000 people who live with multiple sclerosis.
The Society has chapters in fifty locations across the nation. Its home office operations are housed in New York City, Denver and Washington DC. All told, 1200 employees and 500,000 volunteers support the Society’s work annually. Approximately 75% of the Society’s annual expenditures go towards research, services and programs for people with MS and their families, support and education for health care professionals, and federal, state and local advocacy efforts.
We have an opening in our Denver, Colorado office for a Senior Graphic Designer. Reponsibilities include:
The Senior Graphic Designer works with the Creative Director to design and deliver campaign materials, as well as other print and web projects for a variety of departments across the society. Responsibilities include editorial and design layout, logo design, the creation of sub-brands as well as related guidelines. Requires close collaboration with other departments, internal and external editorial staff, and technical teams for deployment.
The Senior Graphic Designer creates interface designs for the web including mobile devices and tablets as well as interface components for smartphone apps. Designs e-newsletters, web banners, badges, etc. for campaigns and mass market events.
Strong collaboration with a variety of cross-functional project leaders, and the ability to organize and manage the project to the delivery date and expectations of the stakeholders. Also includes the collaboration with external creative resources that may include photographers, videographers, contract designers or freelance illustrators, and the ability to convey and ensure on-brand results throughout each project.
Creatively interact with and understand the needs of the entire organization (including home office and chapters) as both web and print materials are produced centrally for use organization-wide. Requires strong and consistent use of distribution and chapter training systems and processes, and demonstrated creative ability.
Support, and in some cases contribute to the leadership of other teams and initiatives as appropriate to support goals of the Marketing and Development team and the Strategic Response.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in print and logo design, externally facing materials in a corporate environment/setting. Minimum of 3 years experience creating online graphics, pre-press print, and e-marketing materials. Experience with pre-press procedures, vendor relations, project/process management, and cross-departmental collaboration essential. Attention to detail, creative ability, willingness to learn, and collaborating in a multi-task, high energy environment is a must.
Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and knowledge of standard production tools and print/web publishing programs is necessary. Web content management, including uploading and maintenance, is required. PowerPoint knowledge, HTML, CSS, and/or other interactive media experience required. Knowledge of responsive design a plus.
