Local Matters

Since its inception in 2001, Local Matters has experienced tremendous growth. Our Internet, voice and wireless services are used in countries around the world, from North America to Europe to Asia, and there is much more ahead.

The Designers primarily role is to concept and create innovative web-based screen designs. They will collaborate with Information Architects and utilize aesthetic values like color, typography and graphics to create engaging designs, while meeting the required technical specifications.
The ideal candidate must be able to conduct stakeholder interviews and lead creative discussions. Then apply user-centered design methods to translate user needs, business objectives, and technology capabilities into world-class designs. Additionally, the Designer must be able to effectively present their designs and communicate with Clients, Business Analysts, Developers, QA Engineers, and Project Managers.
Duties:
• Concept and develop a “best of breed” creative product
• Skin functionality and navigation solutions
• Optimize designs
• Interface with Clients and represent creative positions
• Monitor and communicate project status
• Adhere to agreed-upon delivery schedules
• Research and monitor trends related to Web design

Must have:
• Bachelor's degree in design-related discipline: Interface design, Graphic Design or Marketing
• 3+ Years of interactive design work experience
• Demonstrated strong creative vision and methodology for online products
• Inspired passion for and understanding of emerging tools and technology
• Ability to communicate effectively in visual, written and interactive form: design documents, flow charts, prototypes, etc.
• Solid verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Fireworks, and Microsoft Office
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience with Search and/or Mapping is a plus, but not a requirement
