School/Web Developer

I've taken an interest in Web/Mobile Development but my college field of study didn't touch on anything closely related to comm development. I have had a successful career in quota based sales for around 10 years since graduating college.

I'm interested in going to school locally or online for it, but I'm having a hard time differentiating all of the programs out there. I'm planning on continuing my career while going to school, so I won't be a full time student.

I don't want to go to a school that's a waste of money or time. I'd like to enter a program that upon exit, I'll feel like I know what I'm doing and employers will have faith in my capabilities.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I went to Platt College in Aurora, CO. Touched very little on Web at all, almost completely Print design. I guess the only info I can give is that it's not the place you're looking for. I had to learn the majority of my Web Development after graduating. The only up side is that they offered night classes as I had to work full-time while attending and they accepted my design credits from the Community College I went to prior.

Employers will have faith if you have a bad-ass portfolio (and if you don't seem like a scum bag).

Hope this helped.

I took a few classes at DU and to be honest, wasted my money. In my opinion, Mobile/Web Development is learned by doing the work. You're better off finding as many projects as you can with friends/family and promising to deliver functionality that you have no idea how to build. You'll learn it... Fast. I did however enjoy banter with professors and having people to turn to when i was stuck on a problem, but for the most part, school got in the way and moved too slowly.

Oh.. but if you really want to go to school, i would suggest http://bdw.colorado.edu/ - here is their graduate program information. http://bdw.colorado.edu/apply/ They may have an undergrad option as well, but in the end, know that the innerwebs have so much information for you.. http://www.w3schools.com/
