  • Surfrider Foundation Takes On Plastic Pollution

Arnold Furnace has created a new print campaign for the Surfrider Foundation, to generate awareness of the extent of plastic pollution in our oceans. Rather than do a typically graphic, hard-hitting campaign, they wanted the power of the campaign to come through the subtly of the executions. People are used to seeing -—and enjoying — amazing surf shots and the agency's plan was to draw them into the ads by emulating those. Only when they look a little closer do they see all is not well, which the facts then underline.

Market Creation Group (MCG), a full service business-to-business (B2B) marketing firm on a mission to ‘Make B2B Sexy,’ recently announced the promotion of Mark Stiltner to the role of Creative Director. This new creative leadership promises to bring about ambitious advancements in the output of MCG’s marketing materials for B2B technology companies.

Market Creation Group Founder and CEO Brett Schklar reflects on Stiltner's evolution from copywriter to Creative Director. "He has continually demonstrated an ability to understand our clients’ needs and translate that understanding into a solid creative experience. That is already a challenging task for any creative leader, but with our sole focus on B2B, it can be even more challenging."

  • Boulder Photographer Jamie Kripke Shoots 24 Hours of Lemons – A Breeding Ground for Morons

    / Comments (2)

On June 1-2, the High Plains Raceway in Deer Trail, Colorado hosted 24 Hours of Lemons — an endurance race for cars that cost less than $500 — or as they call it, "Where Halloween Meets Gasoline, it's a breeding ground for morons." Jamie Kripke was there to capture the action.

In the spirit of the event, I assembled a lighting rig that I could wear on my back in order to be self sufficient and flexible. I knew I'd need plenty of fill light to both overpower the sun, and to brighten up the dark recesses of the pit areas. I was told by more than one person that my FrankenStrobe creation was very "Lemony."

It was the most fun I've had shooting in a long time. I was totally inspired by the creativity of the racers, and especially by the ingenuity of the mechanics, who definitely had their work cut out for them.
