• Sundance Channel Re-Ups Impossible's "Inspiration Sessions" for Another Season

    / Comments (0)

"The Inspiration Sessions," the highly acclaimed short-form series has been greenlit for a second season as part of Sundance Channel's music/talk series "Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…" Impossible, a Denver design and visual effects studio, was called upon by the network and sponsor Infiniti for a second straight year to bring both legendary and current musical phenoms to their viewers.

The 13-part series profiles dynamic artist and producer pairings within a candid free-flowing conversation about inspiration. This year's pairings include Sir Elton John with Scissor Sisters, Nelly Furtado with producer Andres Recio, Smokey Robinson with producers Brian French and Gary Gold, and David Gray with producer Ieslyn Polson. A new episode of "The Inspiration Sessions" premieres each week during "Spectacle."

Developed and produced for Sundance Channel by Impossible and sister company Flying Saucer Films, each 2-minute episode explores an aspect of inspiration such as the songwriting process, studio techniques, and collaboration both inside and outside the recording studio. As brand-sponsored entertainment, the series seamlessly integrates Infiniti messaging and branding to keep viewers engaged during breaks -- time otherwise devoted to commercials on other networks.

San Francisco-based contemporary art blog, Daily Serving, has a new interview with Denver's Mario Zoots – who talks quite a bit about Denver, his methodology and the inspiration for his work. We found this quote most telling about his style.

"Change causes mystery. When I change images, I believe the psychology of the image is still in tact for the most part but then I find the disruptions and interruptions in my art to be haunting and mysterious. Perhaps the change, the deconstruction, the mystery is what my audience feels the most."

    To Denver area designers,

We are writing to you on behalf of the Wichita State University's AIGA chapter. Our chapter is planning a trip to Denver, Colorado from April 16-18. We have been looking for designers that would be interested in meeting with us to discuss work that different design studios are doing in Denver, and possibly reviewing some portfolio pieces we bring, if you would be willing to do so. Let us know if you are interested, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We hope to hear from you, and thank you for taking time to read our email.

  • The ForeverScape

The ForeverScape is a a life-long continuous drawing project by Denver-raised artist Vance Feldman.

"The ForeverScape began on September 23rd, 2009 as a simple landscape to pass the time. As the first page ran out of room, the logical thing to do was to connect another sheet of paper, and then another, and then another… Soon, the drawing became an obsession; locked away in a metal case, the drawings follow me wherever I go. The psychedelic landscape employs roving vanishing points and vanishing realities. It is an expression of my feelings at the moment I make each segment. Each panel is a link to a memory, a place, a sight and a discomfort."

Vance is working on panel #119 and The ForeverScape is currently more than 100 feet long. For a modest fee, you can pay him to put a custom message of your choosing inside the drawing on an object you select – including a manhole cover, small billboard, taco joint, porn shop, mansion, public statue or magical bucket, among others.
