• Put Pearl Izumi on Uranus

Sure, it's a juvenile thing you've said for years. But you know you've always wanted to work it into an ad. Well, Boulder active-apparel maker Pearl Izumi and their agency Pocket Hercules, Minneapolis beat you to it. Time to refocus your efforts on getting a midget riding a unicorn into that next piece. You can do it.

What better time to cue you in to a new drinking game we discovered than bright and early on Monday morning. Mark and James, two dudes we're assuming are out to impress Bogusky, have built a drinking game around said person's weekly live chat show FearLess Q+A. The rules are pretty obscure, but it's clear drinking is involved. So, it's cool with us. Follow along on Twitter for more rules being made up on the spot to ensure you're plenty fueled by talk show's end.

  • Colorado Native Lager Packaging via Tenfold Collective

According to the website, "Colorado Native is a hand crafted lager that celebrates the joys of life in Colorado." We've yet to sample it to officially provide our agreement, but the packaging and identity certainly do the brew justice. The work is from The Tenfold Collective, Loveland, hired by The Integer Group. We'd be curious to know why it wasn't handled in-house at Integer, but maybe they needed the Tenfold special design sauce on this one.

The great Felix has taken a break from all the hard work he's been doing (or has he been up to something else?) to pen a new piece on why you shouldn't work so hard. Confused? Get some clarity.

Boulder's Sterling-Rice Group, a 26-year old brand strategy, innovation and communications company, has announced that Buddy Ketchner will be promoted to President of the company. The appointment will be effective on July 1, 2010.

"Buddy Ketchner has been with Sterling-Rice Group for 21 years. He was the company’s sixth employee and has been instrumental in growing the business to become an integrated brand strategy, innovation and communications firm employing 120 people and positively impacting hundreds of clients."

Also worth noting for some of you who had a strong distaste for SRG's Creative Director, Bill Roden. He left the company about two weeks ago and is now SRG's ex-Creative Director.

We support any agency trying to do things in a new way. But the person who wrote this latest email sent out by Boulder crowdsourcing agency Victors & Spoils – in an attempt to convince potential creatives to get involved in their newest 'project' – had to be laughing out loud as they thought about the people who would actually fall for it.

    Hello everyone,

It’s time for a new V&S brief, and this one is not just new, but quite different. What we have here is a bona fide big brand opportunity.

We’re stoked about this project. This one’s big time. So we’ll need some big time ideas. Campaign ideas. 10 of them, in fact, from each of you who wants to throw down.

The opportunity is for a national package good brand. It’s in every grocery store you’ve ever been in. It’s not new, it’s older. Re-invigoration is the key here.

We’re looking for those big, media-spanning, cross-platforming, brand-transforming kinds of ideas. Ideas that from under which TV, digital, in-store, and new revenue-stream types of pieces naturally fall.

10 big ideas gets you $750 bucks. If you move on there’s potential for $1000 more for you.

So, for now please let me know if you’re interested and able. If you reply saying you’re interested and we select you, you will need to sign and return an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) by Monday 3/29/10. And we’ll be briefing that same day.

    Gonna be fun.

    Thanks,
    V&S

  • Introducing AngryBovine, The Newest Boulder Agency

    / Comments (12)

Jay Farracane just moved from the Bay Area to Boulder and brought his design consultancy AngryBovine with him. AngryBovine has hit the ground running, with a lot of work in progress for adjacent businesses in Boulder and Denver. Two of their newest projects are featured below.

RockyMounts, a respected rack designer and manufacturer located in Boulder, held a call for entries for submissions of new logo designs for their corporate presence. AngryBovine's identity was eventually chosen. "The mark is called 'the stoke.' It conveys a smile, the mountains, lakes and a typographic reference all contained in a modern little capsule." The identity work has led to a deeper, more extended relationship for AngryBovine with the client.

Giveo is "Giving Democratized" – a new social platform that brings brands, charities and foundations closer to those who care about them while driving brand loyalty, advocacy and socially dynamic fundraising. AngryBovine developed the new brand, site and motion piece featured on the homepage.
