    By virtue of looking at tons of ad blogs, we’re exposed to a lot of campaigns that seek to bob and weave and mislead consumers into believing something is “real” – when in actuality it’s just an ad promoting some dumb product. Today’s example is the supposed Carmen Electra sex tape that’s finally resolved itself as an ad campaign.

    As you’ll see in the videos, a strange man appears at the end of Part II of each of two separate videos (one with Carmen Electra and the other with model Yfke Sturm) who is taping the ladies get down. Turns out, he’s wearing… wait for it… a Van Gils suit, ladies and gentleman. Anybody tired of this advertising formula yet (aside from the fact that beautiful women are stripping in this particular campaign)?

  • Denver Haps 12.11.09: BordoBello

    BordoBello, an AIGAColorado skateboard design charity auction, will be auctioning off skateboard decks designed by over 200 local artists and designers, on the evening of Friday, December 11, 2009, benefiting two youth-focused design and arts charities, VSA Arts of Colorado’s Access Gallery & Youth Design.

    This is a chance to recognize Denver’s community of artists and designers, and get people together to encourage the youth to follow their dreams while giving them the tools and support necessary to explore their interests in becoming designers. BordoBello has organized mentorship teams between established local designers, artists and students from high schools and colleges in the Colorado area who are eager to learn about design. The boards created by these by these partnerships will be included in the auction.

    The fund raiser will take place at Andeken Gallery. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and the live auction will begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets, which can be purchased at the BordoBello website, will be $15 ahead of time and $20 at the door. All boards being auctioned off will start at $25. All ticket holders will be entered to win a collection of door prizes donated by local restaurants and shops around Denver. This evening will be filled with stimulating entertainment including live graffiti by West High School Mural Club, live music from Artist Roster and a live skateboarding demo from the BC Surf & Sport Colorado Skate Team. Drinks will be provided by Amp Energy Drinks, and beers will be $2.

    Last we heard from copywriter Holly Menges, she was getting back into the freelance game after a year with Karsh\Hagan. We jumped over to her site this afternoon and were reminded that she’s a seriously capable writer (with some nice, gasp, long-copy work) if you’re on the search. Go see for yourself.

    UPDATE: Holly took a staff position with Factory last month. Glad someone picked her up.
